Sharpening

Unlike most sharpening services that use machines or angle-set grinders, I sharpen knives (and other blades) freehand, employing the traditional Japanese method with quality whetstones, copious patience, and meticulous technique. It takes more practice and time, but like most things with such requisites, the benefits are unmatched. My method of choice goes beyond the outcome though; I'm in it for the joy of sharpening. It's become a work of love for me as I learn how each unique blade wants to dance on the stones and I'd be so honored to earn your business.


Pricing

Japanese style chef knife - from $20            

All other knives & axes - from $15

In my sharpening service is rust removal as well as a built-in restoration of the entire blade's edge. If your blade has a chip in it, or the tip has broken off, I'll restore it so as to make the entire edge of the blade usable and sharp. Full blade restorations from big chips and breaks go upward of $50.
